Under the changes, the retirees whose retirement incomes exceed 740 lei are obliged to pay the health insurance contribution rate of 5.5% applied to such income. By applying this rate, there may not result a lower net pension than 740 lei. The retirees with retirement incomes of less than 740 lei will pay the health care contribution starting from January 1st 2012; this contribution is paid from the state budget.
