This decision introduces a series of fines that can be administered to the providers of payment services for non-compliance with the provisions of Regulation (EC) no. 924/2009. This regulation established rules related to cross-border payments within the Community so that the charges for cross-border payments in the Community to be identical to those for payments in the same currency within a Member State and they are applicable to cross-border payments in Euros but also in the official currencies of the Member States.
The NACP (National Agency for Consumer Protection) is appointed as the national authority responsible for overseeing the compliance with the Regulation in the relationship between payment service providers and consumers, as defined in the Regulation, and the Financial Guard – in the relationship between payment service providers and corporate users.
This decision comes into force 30 days after being published in the Official Gazette.
